Edited Rant (yes it was longer)

My new, but fervent pet peeve is people who try to get out of jury duty. They try to tell me how important they think their job is. It is so hard to be nice while telling them, "You think you're too cool for school, but NEWS FLASH, you aren't!" There has been only one case where someone's job has gotten them out of jury duty. Like the time the brain surgeon had to do surgery NOW on a patient or he'd die. Try to top that elementary school teacher.

Why don't people want to do jury duty? You get out of work, and no one can fire you! I buy you snacks, (and I get awesome food because I only get what I want to eat. Mostly because after the jury leaves I get to eat it). You get to stare at me all day if you wanted too. And who wants to miss witty quips from attorneys, like, "This isn't the Natural Light conspiracy of 2009!" (Maybe you had to be there). Once more, you get to spend time with me! And I feed you. I'm Italian. We were born with the ability to feed the world. There is no down side. So quit trying to get out of it!

Someone's life is on the line. Quit complaining, and quit giving me suggestions as to what days are best for you to do your civic duty. I'm so tempted to send skippers to court and give them 20 days in the Utah County Jail. (So, I can't do it, but my judge can. He probably will never do that, but just so you know, I like knowing I am connected to the power that can do it).

Like my Daddy said, "You'd be an excellent government worker, because you like to have power and lord it over people."

Lame

An email was sent out proclaiming a stake softball league, and I decided to be social and join my ward team. I last played in the 4th Grade, I was sure my skills were still there.

Tonight was the first game. I played first as shortstop, and it wasn't too bad. Then it was our turn to bat. Girls get 5 pitches, so I decided I'd swing at anything. First ball I swung and missed and made a girly yell. I told the people, "remember, I'm a girl. . . I'm supposed to look like this!" Then I hit the next ball and made it to first base. Then second base. On my way to third a mean boy came running at me, and to dodge him I stepped around and ended up on my foot wrong. Rather, I stepped on my ankle. So I was out. . . of the game.

(As an aside, the boys on the other team were quite aggressive, especially to the girls. For instance, one girl was bumped off 2nd base and then was tagged out. THIS is why you aren't married boys!)

I sat there with an ice pack the rest of the game. My team won the game for me. Wasn't that nice of them! But I still feel like the lame idiot who only played for 10 minutes. On the way home I drove with my left foot (injuring the right) and sometimes bent over so I could hold the ice pack to my ankle. I'm an ambi-driver. I know 2 boys who would be so excited to have driven home with me!

So, I hope its better by tomorrow. Or at least next week. Either way, if it wasn't a force out, I am going to be so mad I ran!
