16 Candles

So, I haven't blogged in awhile. But, it was my birthday. Nothing fancy. Although, I would like to compare it to 16 Candles, the movie.

While my family didn't forget my birthday, we did go to a siblings event. Ruben's football game. And while he didn't take 5 painkillers and act a fool, he did lose the game, well, the team collectively. Which I thought was rude, because when I took the spotlight on his birthday, I graduated. And I even made him an awesome poster.

Also at his game, I got flowers from a boy. He was 3 and as he gave them to me he said, "because its your birthday, and you're old."
Then at the end of the day, I ate birthday cake on a table with Jake Ryan.

False! I did not. But I did go out and had dinner with two great people.

I think I'm going to be 21 this year.

Just Another Day at Work

So, Gary Farmer came to town. If you've ever seen this movie then you might have seen him.

He's known as Arnold Joseph. He also acted in a movie with Johnny Depp. I touched the hand that touched Johnny.

He came to Omaha to play, but UNO got him to talk. I'm not entirely sure he knew what he was going to say when he got up to talk, but talk he did. About what, I'm also not entirely sure. But it was a good time anyway.

Paranoid

I had a fabulous weekend, but this morning I woke up all paranoid and restless.

WHY?

Because, after over a year of not being in school, I had a dream that school had started, but I hadn't gone yet, and I only had seven credits and needed to fill up my schedule, and time was running out. I wasn't going to be on track to graduate!

One of these days I'm going to stop doing this right?

Happy Days Are Here Again

I like teaching. I get a captive audience who has to listen to every word I say. AND they have to believe it, at least for test purposes.

ALSO, it is a vast improvement from my last job's wardrobe. Today a student came up after class to tell me she loved my shoes and wanted to know where I got them. That NEVER happened to me as a bailiff! I LOVE feeling pretty again. No more man pants!

I wanted to give her an "A" right then and there.

Secrets to an "A" in my class so far:
1. give me a cupcake
2. Tell me I'm pretty

I'm sure the list can grow. I'm not exclusive. I'm sure eventually, "studying and doing well on tests" will make it. But for now, I prefer the things that make me feel good!
