LIVING LEGENDS!

This week just keeps getting better and better!
Tonight my sister and I went to go see the Heritage Week Living Legends show. It was pretty awesome. They even brought the Argentine dance back! And even though they changed the Caporales song (Isaac used to sing it to me before a show as he got his costumes ready), it was a great show!

I still can't help but thing how Me, Adrianna, and Laura worked together so well that we could change Michelle Wilson from her Mariachi dress to her La Negra dress in 15 seconds! Or how Rachel Noker's La Negra shoes were so stinking brand-new that the 20 seconds she had to change from La Negra to Columbia for closing we couldn't get her shoes off, even with me pulling and her on the ground pulling from the opposite direction, and she finally just had to go on stage with shoes, (Columbia was supposed to be barefoot!) I love that I can now see Ancient Hawaii dance, because when in Living Legends I was always putting the Apache masks on the Native guys!

Since this is Heritage month, a LOT of former members of Living Legends show up, and so they also have a reunion after the show. We had some great food tonight. ANYTHING is good when you pair it with chocolate covered strawberries!

Well, we saw a lot of the former members of LL when I was in there! (so many exclamation points tonight, I know!) I love them all! They all look so cute. I swear, Michelle Wilson will always be the most beautiful woman I've ever seen! Channy is always gorgeous! Since I was technically (and lets be technical) on the Tech Crew, and didn't dance, and I always felt like Meredith's little sister tagging along, I didn't know if they would be as excited to see me as I was them. But they are the best and at least seemed to be excited to hear about my life as I was to hear about them and theirs! That semester I was in Living Legends was probably the best semester I've had! I had just graduated early from High School, most of my friends weren't at college yet, and I was away from my family and was so homesick, but as soon as I joined LL I made 30+ new friends who I loved to be around. It was hard work on the tech crew, but I loved it every moment, if only to say I could hang out with these people!
PS. I know its a compliment, but its still really funny. Tonight I saw Ben K, and when he saw me, he gave a double-take and grabbed my arm and said, "Wow, you lost some weight!"

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Dang, it must have been bad!

Also, I have been getting more compliments on the bangs as well as my improved weight, and it warms my heart. Although I've already decided that bangs are high maintenance. I can't just run my hands thru my hair or walk outside with wind w/o having to make sure the bangs are back in place. Oh well, beauty is pain or something, right?

PROM!

I never got to go to Prom in high school. So when I found out that Law School had a Prom, or at least Awards Ceremony and Barrister's Ball, I knew I had to go, with or without a date.  1L year I went with a group of my friends, and it was a blast. 2L year I went with a date, and this year I went with Liz, like 1L days.  It was fun, but I missed the rest of the 6th Chicks.

This year I got an award, like I wrote about previously, it was the Douglad H. Parker award for my contributions in Federal Indian Law.  And they had this room for "Legends of the Law School," where you could take pictures like you were on a red carpet, and they had posters...it was fun.

Our entertainment last year was Jericho Road, this year was Brig and Eric roasting our professors, and it was pretty hilarious.  Especially the part where 1) Brig was Augustine Adams, 2) Brig cut his wig to become Tarkington, and 3) Eric "stretched his legs" to become Woods.  So awkward, but hilarious! You have to be a law nerd to fully understand the hilarity.

Here are a few pictures.  All my friends are hott. I know this, but its not often I look at a picture of myself and say this, so I don't feel bad about publicly (if you call blog public) saying, dang, I looked good last night!

Hair Cut!

I got my hair cut this evening.  At the law school PILF auction Stacey and I bid on a hair package. Part of my deal was that I got the free hair cut.

Tomorrow is Prom, and I kind of wanted to get my hair did for it.  I don't get my hair cut that often, and when I do I like to try to get a new look so that I'm not looking like the 60 year old women who still have beehive hairdos.  However, its not easy when I always want to keep my long hair.
This time I thought I would try bangs.  I wasn't sure about them. I figure I have a wide enough face, so having bangs straight across would just cut my face and make it wider... But I told my friends I would, so I had to.  And I LIKE it!

I had to go to the Law School, because my hair wont look this nice tomorrow and I need to show people.  I made Natalia take pictures of me for proof.  I almost don't want to go to the gym because it'll ruin my hair, but I need to go for bailiff purposes.

Will I look weird if I wear a sweatband to the gym? Olivia Newton-John, Lets Get Physical it up?

Random Thoughts

So, this morning the carpet cleaners came, and it was only 9, so I'm still in my pjs. Duh.  Anyways, they want to clean my carpet, so I decide to use this time (which I hope will be quick) to brush teeth, wash face, etc.  I go to my bathroom to perform these acts.  And then the carpet cleaner is spraying, and vacuuming. For like, 20 minutes....

So, for those 20 minutes I'm just standing in my airplane sized bathroom when it occurs to me that I was trapped in a bathroom, and that like R. Kelly, I should write an urban pop opera.  I'd make loads of money.  I could perform all the parts by myself on stage at the MTV awards. I even texted some friends. They didn't get it.

On other news, at the gym I hear this song, "Hope it Gives you Hell."  The constant swearing catches my attention, and I love it.  Then I buy it.  Its awesome. I'm a little obsessed with it now.
And truth be told I miss you
And truth be told I'm lying!
...
If you find a man that's worth a damn and treats you well
Then he's a fool, you're just as well, hope it gives you hell

I'm sorry, those lyrics are pure genius! and I LOVE it!

Tonight I get a haircut, and tomorrow is Law School Prom. Life is good people!

Oh, The Horror!

This morning I woke up to go to training for my job as a Bailiff/Law Clerk.  Well, I thought it was training until I saw that it was actually testing. Its the same testing you do to become a cop.

It had 4 parts. Math, Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and a writing portion.

Math was the basic adding, multiplying, dividing, subtracting.  You would think it would be super easy, and it was. But then that made me paranoid. What if I got something wrong? How embarrassing would that be?  The entire test was that way. It was so easy that I became so paranoid not to miss anything.  I'm in Law School for goodness sakes, how can I miss a question simply asking me to add things up?

Well, after we had sexual harassment training. I learned a lot. Truly...

AND! The most horrifying thing today was seeing for the first time what our Bailiff uniform would be!
the pants!

The PANTS!

The TAPERED PANTS!!

oh, and the shoes!

Combat boots!  Expensive combat boots!  I don't even spend that much money on CUTE shoes.

Luckily there is a wardrobe allowance.

Don't forget about the shirts, the belts...and our training uniform...they are men's sizes and the smallest size they had were mediums.  And I guess we have to wear spandex underneath our shorts. I guess the men need extra help keeping the mouse in the house.  And MORE shoes, but wrestling shoes.  My poor feet!

oh, and PS.  I also have to get a Utah Driver's License now...how sad is that!

Curing Cancer

Every year they have the Rex Lee Run for cancer research.  I run the 5k, because lets face it, I wont run the 10k.  And since daddy started it in the Law School, the running club here buys headbands and tries to get a lot of students to do it.

I ran it in about 40 minutes, which is slightly faster than last year.  Meredith was making fun of me because she thought I was working out, BUT

I "run" on an eliptical, there isn't hills on the eliptical, it was early in the morning, I went to bed late, I was tired, I was hungry, I was cold.  And then Meredith took a bathroom break and we had to wait for her. And then we saw Sally, and so we had to take a picture with her, and then there was a water station, and I had to get a drink, and you can't run and drink, it would just get all over!  And then after I drank the cup, I couldn't run with water in my stomach or it'd splash around and hurt. So there.  Basically, I'm just not a runner. I'm ok with that.
But it was just Me, Meredith, Ben and Charley running this year.

Really, I just do it to know I helped to cure cancer. And, for a free headband.

Its Awesome Because Its True

So, I know I'm a little behind the curve, but I recently decided to listen to the entire song of "My Life Would Suck Without You" (parts of which reminds me of The Killers song "are we human or are we dancers?" song.)  I've even watched the video and checked out the lyrics to make sure I know what she is saying.  The song is CRAZY!  But I LOVE it.  I listen to it on a loop.

Perhaps I am the only who does this, but if there were ever a song to stand in a front yard and hold a boom box over your head-"say anything" style- (or maybe an ipod in and adaptor) it is this song.  Before it was Teagan and Sarah's (Some emo lesbian band Stacey listens to)  "Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't find me attractive" song.
My life would suck without you.  Its awesome because its true.

And no, I am not currently stalking anyone.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

This weekend I

1. Went to the Draper Temple Open House
2. Got flashed at a restaurant
3. Took the MPRE (frownsmile)
Well, it seems like months ago, if not just weeks ago I told my friend that I would LOVE to go to the Draper Temple Open House.  I've been to the St. Louis, Winter Quarters, and Nauvoo Open Houses and Dedications.  I love temples and they are pretty gorgeous. Unfortunately, recently I had to ask my friend what day we were going. March 6. Yep, the night right before the MPRE, an ethics test for lawyers.  Not the best time to go, but I can't say I was sorry I went.

However, afterwards my friends and I went to grab some dinner.  We went to Red Rocks or someplace in Salt Lake, and we were seated near the windows.  About halfway through the dinner I look outside, and I'm assuming this guy is drunk.  He is staring at us, or maybe one of the girls at our table, and gesturing. At one point he lifts his shirt up to show us his abs. Interesting.  I really hope he was drunk and not some creepy exhibitionist.

The next morning I took the MPRE.  The first few days of studying I thought, this is pretty common sense stuff.  Then I took a few quizzes. It totally sucked.  They asked a question, and yes, it was unethical, but NO! That isn't the question they are asking? Confused? So was I!  So, to say the least, I wasn't too excited for the test.  I got to school early to make sure I was on time.  I borrowed a few pencils from the reference desk (Not stealing. They are for student use. I was a student. I was using them. I totally returned them, ergo still ethical.)  So, I go take the test. Its pretty awful.  I have to choose between many options of why it was unethical. . . I guess we'll find out in 5 weeks if I passed.  In my heart I know I am ethical.  If I fail, I can retake it in August. The bonus of that is, I'll be graduated, and it'll be a nice experience to see old friends!

Its Tradition

So, I go to law school. Said law school has a yearly Awards Ceremony and Barrister's Ball.  This is commonly referred to as Law School Prom.  Well, my dad was here in law school and got an award. I grew up seeing it in his office.

My sister recently graduated.  She received awards.  I was the only Zendejas in law school without an award...NO LONGER!

This morning I came to school to see an email from the Dean.  "Congratulatios" it said.  I got an award for being the best Indian in this law school!  I may or may not be the only federally recognized Indian here, but it still works!  Its real name is the Douglas H. Parker award for distinguished love something or other...Federal Indian Law! YAY!

Its like being Miss Indian BYU of the Law School.

The only question now is, Do I wear my crown and sash the night of?

oh happy day.

Tonight was not my night.

After a class that lasts til 6pm, a group of us decided to get dinner, then stay at school to study for an upcoming ethics test we have this Saturday.  It was decided that I should drive since it was my turn.

Along the way I almost get in an accident.  We aren't close to hitting, but we do have to hit the breaks.  This is only significant since people in the car with me somehow believe I am not the best driver. This does not help my case.

Then, we are stopped at a red light trying to turn left onto 9th when this late 20s/early 30s balding pudgy and geeky man gets out of his passenger side seat, walks up to my door and starts yelling at me. Not entirely sure why. I KNOW I didn't hit them, and I wasn't that close to him.I  mean, he could walk between the cars to get to my side. Either way, OVERREACTION.  I couldn't really hear what he was saying, but he was still weird.  To top it off, the big polynesian guy in my front passenger seat gets mad at him for yelling at me for no apparent reason (at the very least not a good reason) and yells at said geeky man, telling him to get back into his car. Stupid geeky man tries to talk back to big polynesian man.   Big polynesian man then proceeds to walk up to stupid geeky man and threaten him with bodily harm, and stupid geeky man retreats to his car.  All of this happens within a minute or two of each other.  yay.

It was intense.

Well, then we get our food. I order a grilled chicken sandwhich, hold the mayo.  I get my food, and they don't add mayo, as ordered, they also don't add the chicken.  This is hilarious to me and I literally laugh til I cry. (Perfect fit for the night's events)

Then we go to our seats at the window to study.  For some reason I can't get my online tutorial to work.  I figure I should just cut my losses, go home and start fresh tomorrow.

I watch The Bachelor.  It makes me angry to listen to them (so staged), but I continue to watch. Then I go to the gym.  I run the mile and a half in less than 16 minutes, as required for my job as clerk/bailiff.  I feel incredible pain. Pain like I want to die, or at least curl up in a ball.  I continue to do cardio while listening to my ipod on the professional rules of responsibility.

I hate working out.  All I get is sweaty, and sometimes pain.  I don't see where endorphins kick in.  My hero, Elle Woods, said exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don't shoot their husbands...they just don't!

I don't get endorphins, I just get disgruntled!

I can't wait for heaven, because I'm pretty sure there wont be any treadmills.
