Cars Hate Me: Part 74

Today is June 30th. Nothing especially important, except that my license plates expire today. Whoops! And, since this is Utah, I need a stupid safety and emissions test. So, I run to get that done during lunch, and I fail the safety test. Why? you ask. Well, one morning as I was running late my side mirror collided with the side of the garage door. Stupid Jiffy Lube says it is "Shattered." I say it had a few cracks, but I can totally see out of it!

So, I run to AutoZone in hopes that I can find a replacement mirror. They do not, but the guy says you can buy a mirror sticker to cover it and it'll work fine. So I get it, and the directions look easy. Remove old mirror sticker thing, stencil new mirror and put it on. 1-2-3.

Wrong. It is hard. I spend 2.5 hours of my lunch trying to get this thing off, and it is still a mess. Now you can really call it "shattered" and useless. Is it too late to just get a new car?

So, now I am running around Provo with expired plates. I guess this could have been fixed by doing this in advance, but where is the frustration in that?

Oh man

I went to dinner with my family tonight at Red Robin. Who doesn't love bottomless steak fries? As we left the table I looked down and saw a bunch of plates with fries and sauces and appetizers. It was kind of gross. (But awesome). Only in America.

USA!
USA!

Well, 5 hours later, I still feel like I have a food baby.

Still Got It

I've started going to Zumba with my sister. Tonight as I was driving home 2 boys in a car started staring and waving at me as they drove next to me. Its like when boys honk at you, and your outward feminist has to say, how dare you! But the inner girl in you thinks, I'm pretty!

At the stop sign they asked if we could hang out. I immediately had to ask how old they were. They looked like they were 16. They didn't answer, but asked me how old I was. Um, you NEVER ask a lady how old she is. They admit to 22. I'm not sure I believed them. They asked me again if I wanted to give them my number and hang out. But, for better or for worse, working in the courthouse I realize that despite the fact we live in Utah, not every boy is a good Mormon boy. And seeing that I was in my shorts and tank top, I'm fairly certain they were attracted to my sweet spirit.

So when the light turned green, I told the boys no thanks, and sped up and turned left. I generally don't give out my number to boys at stop lights. If only I weren't so picky, it could have been a great story to tell the grandkids. Or, conversely, a new story line on SVU.

Much Ado About Nothing

My job is sometimes really boring. And other times it can be super cool. Today, I thought it would be super cool.

And then all the air is deflated. And even though the last thing I want is a picture of me in my uniform, it is still a bit deflating when a ton of people with cameras hear you walk out, look excited, then seem disappointed and ignore you. If only they knew how powerful I was. . .

In any case, the interesting stuff was delayed, and boring stuff took its place. A lot of hype for a lot of nothing.

It just wasn't the Flag Day I was hoping for!

Lights Out!

The power seems to be going out in Provo a lot. A few weeks ago at work the power was out for over an hour. Which, at a court house, can be a bad thing. Only one court was going on at the time, but it was a criminal calendar. So the poor prison inmates were taken down to the holding cell. Unfortunately, they had to waddle down 4 flights of stairs in shackles, in the dark. About 45 minutes into it, the Judge said we should go home. So I did. About ten minutes later the power came back on, but I was already out!

Yesterday the power went out again. Then it came back on and normal life and AC resumed. However, a few hours later it went out AGAIN. But this was worse because it was 9pm, so my house was much darker. I tried to light a candle with the stove, but it wouldn't ignite without power. Then I had a flash of brilliance.

As gross as it is, I have a roommate who reminds me and my former roommate of Shrek, bless her heart. There is a lot of frustration with this woman, but for purposes right now, I will just say that she spends a LOT of time in the bathroom. A LOT. She even broke the toilet seat at one point. So, as I'm using my cell phone as a light, I think, this woman has got to have matches! So I text my old roommate, and sure enough there is a stash on the right side of the counter next to a scented candle. Success!

Unfortunately or fortunately, as soon as I light a candle the power comes back on. But its good to know where I can get some matches.

I'm getting it all over now!

Tonight I watched my nieces. Gabby was cute and smiled the whole night until she cuddled with me before falling asleep.

Charley, as soon as I got there, changed from Huskers cheerleader to her Cinderella outfit. Then she asked me who I was married to.

Nobody, --who are YOU married to?

Nobody. But, you need a PRINCE!

I think I like it better when they can't talk.
