We Celebrated Too Soon!

The Rapture was supposed to happen last weekend. Something about doing math and Saturday was the day! At 6pm nothing huge happened, so we all laughed and went on our way. I mean, we don't even trust the weather man what it'll be like for our 5-day forecast, but this guy knew the time of the Rapture.

Anyway, we laughed and "celebrated." Some of my and I were eating half-off celebratory cupcakes when the rain started. And jokingly said that maybe we celebrated too soon.

Well, I'm starting to think seriously about that now. For the past few days I have been craving these:
Starburst Jellybeans.

And the one store I know that has always carried them regardless of Easter is out. I see the spot on the shelf where it is supposed to be, but it isn't! As I said when they were out of Sweet Tart jellybeans the night before Easter, "It happened. The worst has happened!" The terrorists have won.

I'm going to have to start looking for them on ebay or something. Amazon sells everything too, right?

Biker Gang

I finally bought a new bike. It is pretty and BYU Cougar colors. Pretty much all I need.
Tonight, my friend and I went on our first bike ride. We'll just say it was an exploratory first ride. We learned a lot.

I thought we could ride to the Keystone Trail and have an awesome time. However, we had some difficulties. Nicole's bike had difficulty with its breaks. But we figured it out enough. And then we were in the neighborhood of a guy from church who knew how to fix bikes, so that was great.

Then, going downhill I switched too fast from gear 1 to gear 7. My chain came off. So, I learned how to put my chain back on. Also, my shoe came off at one point.

We overcame all those difficulties. But, I am out of shape, and there are a TON of hills in Omaha. Did you know that? And way bigger when you are on a bike and not a car. So, we decided to save the Keystone Trail for another day.

This is going to be awesome.

Friday the 13th: Foe or Friend?

Here is what happened this Friday the 13th:

  • Mom and Dad went out of town.
  • We had to load up a van of stuff for my sister. (putting a mattress in, hilarity ensued)
  • Took Muffin to the mall to get a vest for Prom!
  • Ran over a random block of wood on the interstate. Not a fan.
  • Five seconds later, drywall comes loose from a truck bed, we get smacked. Thankfully, no damage. I wonder how that insurance call would have sounded like.
  • Find Muffin a vest, get very jealous of how narrow Muffin is. It was wasted on a boy!
  • Muffin goes to Prom. Very handsome and dashing young man!
  • I go to Friday Institute and dinner. Good food, awkward lesson.
  • Watch Season One of Arrested Development while waiting to pick up Muffin from after-prom.
So, all in all...it was Friday the 13th. I got to see Muffin all dashing for Prom, yet the interstate tried to kill me. Throw in awkward YSA activities. . . it was a toss up.

High Schoolers Think I'm Cool

Sometimes I wish I could do high school over again. Actually, that is pretty much a never, but today I briefly thought about it. Not that I had a bad time in high school, just that I'm glad to move on. I had a blast in college and law school. If high school was the best 4 years of your life, it's just sad that it's all down hill from there!

But, I wasn't the most fashionable back in the day. With early morning seminary, and pure laziness, plus I thought I had a natural beauty, aka didn't want to get up any earlier to dress nicely or put on makeup, so I didn't try hardly at all.

I felt like this:

But, I mostly looked like this, with longer hair:
I digress. Today my Muffin was telling me a story about how his family came up in a conversation, and I was described as the "sister who had the cute outfits."

And, to be honest, I felt completely gratified by the approval of people still in high school. I'm sure if I went back to HS, I could be one of the cool kids. The ones from Saved By the Bell. I'd be Jessi Spano, but without the Caffeine pills addiction, or the unfortunate movie role choice of that Vegas dancer.
