Muffin on the Road

My youngest brother has finally gotten his drivers license. Super exciting!
I took pictures.
Here's the story:

I had to take Mom and Muffin because Mom had to sign papers as a parent, and I had to come because Mom and Dad had to pick up a rental car, and if the test took too long, Mom would have to leave early and I would have to wait to take Muffin home (especially if he didn't pass).
So, there we were sitting, and Dad and Lexi arrive to pick up Mom. Lexi had to come because she would take Dad's car home once Mom and Dad rented the car.
So, there we all were. Mom, Dad, Lexi and I and Muffin came out. I thought it
would be a great memory to capture.
The family wondering why I busted out a camera at the DMV.
Muffin, who at first was excited to show us he passed, but still confused as to why I had a camera.

I think I missed my calling in life as a photographer.

Just Lazy

My room is a mess. I've been out of town so often, and my mom said it looks like my suitcase exploded. Yes. Between figuring out things to pack, washing stuff, and then unpacking items I realized I didn't need, my bed and ottoman are full of clothes just waiting to be hung up.

But I don't want to. So much work!

Yesterday, I was still a bit tired from driving, (which must entertain my students when I teach), so I just laid here on the part of my bed that was cleared off. Now, I guess I have no more excuses.

Boo.

Awk-Ward!

Last night was the last night of Jazz on the Green in Omaha for the summer. My friend Lauren wanted to go, and I was in town, so we went!

We get there a little early, find a nice enough place to listen and people watch, and things are going alright.

THEN, the magic starts. I don't mean the jazz music. Some people have come a little later and want to squeeze in. Literally. They set their chairs down right beside me. And then thinking they need more room, squeeze even closer! Like, we're flying on a plane in coach, close. They also bust out their dinner.
(covert photo: we are super close)

Not to be outdone in awkwardness, an older gentleman sat down next to us. I'm sorry, directly between Lauren and I.
(This was harder to covertly take. That thing on the bottom right corner...the man's knee)

As you can see, Lauren and I aren't sitting terribly far apart. A normal distance, I would say. It was like the two groups, to paraphrase The Office, this man and lady seem to be playing their own separate game, and it's called, 'Let's see how uncomfortable we can make these girls,' and they're both winning.' Personal boundaries people!

Super awkward, but still kind of funny. Just like the people, who are an appropriate distance from us, busted out their box of wine, plastic cups from the nearest gas station, and cheetos. Classy. (Seen over Lauren's right shoulder.)

True Story

So, I've been on 3 vacations now this past month I've been off work. I'll blog about them once the fourth is done. BUT, here is a true story.

Last night was my friend's going away party. So sad. Although, weird, because I still don't believe she's moving. She is, but I don't believe it yet.

Anyway, I was talking to a bunch of friends, and told one about how I visited my brother in NYC, and he's super smart and going to be a bigillionaire one day. And she was like, "how old is your brother?"

So I said, "Oh, he's a year older than me, so.....22 years old!"

Whew! Quick thinking!
