Lunar Eclipse

Tonight at 1:45 ish, there was a Lunar Eclipse. Ever heard of it? I'm pretty sure the news had a field day with it. Even so, I forgot about it til a friend reminded me of it at 1:00. Apparently, this is the first time a Lunar Eclipse has occurred on the same day as the Winter Solstice since 1638 or some random year.
My sister and I googled Lunar Eclipse. This is what we found. We just liked saying "umbra."

Well, my sister and I went outside to watch it. And since my niece is spending the night, she came too! We stood outside like "Mo-rons" (as Lexi would say) and sang Christmas carols waiting for the moment. We even sung "Total Eclipse of the Heart." At one point my niece yelled out, "Shut it already!" I thought she meant my mouth...she claims she meant the moon.

Finally, it was 1:45 and the moon was covered something umbra. We decided it was anti-climactic. My friend said that at least we witnessed a rare event, never to occur in our lifetime again. I say, the other week I made Ruben clean up his stuff in the bathroom. WAY more rare, and TONS more exciting. Take that moon!

P.S.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!

I've come to realize that my Dad and I are alike in many ways. We both majored in History, then realized we couldn't get a job with that, so we went to BYU Law. Neither of us can figure out this crazy new thing they call technology. And physically, we both have wide feet, and BIG HEADS!

Tonight, my sister gave him a BYU hat as one of his gifts. It had to be the adjustable kind, because his head is just that big. The sad part: its not like it was super loose on my head.

Like he said, we have big enough heads for a JD!

Happy Birthday Papa Head!

They Come in 3s

In the midst of Christmas shopping for my loved ones, I included myself. I have no boyfriend to give me gifts, and if he wont, I must. In any case, I found a pair of size 2 jeans I just HAD to try on. So I did. They fit. I almost bought them for that reason alone, but thought it might be a bad idea. I mean, they gave me dunlaps. (You know. When your waist 'dun lap' your pants) But they zipped up!

I guess, to be fair, they were a relaxed "boyfriend" jean, so they weren't the normal shapeless jean. But the fat girl inside of me needed me to say this. I don't let her eat.

I guess other people have noticed my ability to get a muffin top in smaller jeans. At work tonight, a security guard came to give graduates some feathers (I know that sentence requires some explanation, but I wont) and had an extra one, which he gave to yours truly.

THEN, after the program, one of the drummers gave me his card. Dancer. Model. Actor. Triple threat ladies! If only he hadn't lost some of those pesky teeth to some kind of gum disease. I've also caught the eye of an annoying, balding, rotund professor. As Liz Lemon once said, when it rains, it pours!

Church in My Neck of the Woods

Yesterday at church I gave the lesson in Sunday School. I was asked to substitute while the real teacher went home for Christmas Break. I was like, I don't know, printing out these programs every week is a big responsibility already. . . and I'm real busy with work. . . . I guess its time to stop complaining about my calling as "Ward Bulletin Specialist." Lets just say, I was a hot mess. But apparently, I entertain. And I brought candy, so I was forgiven.

Then, tonight at our FHE activity we had a talent show. Only 2 people signed up. So, by the time I actually went downstairs to watch it, it was over.

Jealous?

Number 1 Fan

Tonight was my younger brother's basketball game! Once again, I get to go to his games! Amazing! How many times in a row can I end the sentence with an exclamation point!

But, we get there. And we watch the Varsity girls finish. THEN after that game, the Varsity boys come out. Ruben walks by.

"Ruben! Ruben! HEY RUBEN! I know him! I Know him! He's my brother, I know him! Hey Ruben, I LOVE YOU! I LOVE THAT BOY!"

Then Daddy said I had to stop yelling because I was embarrassing him.
Then he played awesome, and they won. You're welcome.

Awesome Night

Tonight I left to go to a dinner downtown before the BYU v. Creighton Basketball game. Most people in Omaha probably don't care, but you do if you are a BYU fan, and they came to your city!

Anyway, I was running late, so I forgot my phone. Then, last minute, I had my mom drop me off downtown, thinking I could get a ride back with someone. It would save me from having to find parking downtown. This left me without my keys.

Well, dinner was good. Then we walked to the game. It was AWESOME. And by AWESOME, I mean we won. Always a good time in my book. I also had some great inside jokes with Nicole, another BYU Grad school alum.

Well, Nicole dropped me off at home. When I got out of the car, I realized that mom had my keys. So, I could not get in my house. Nor could I call her, because I forgot my phone. So I sat outside on our wicker chair and tried to meditate. By meditate, I mean tried not to think about the cold.

About a half hour later, the fam came home. Ruben was like, you couldn't even sit in your car? If I had my car keys, I would have had my house keys. All good. And super AWESOME. Awesome Night.
