Spring Cleaning

I packed up my winter coats and heavier winter clothes.

Very soon, it will begin to snow. To the greater Omaha area, I'm sorry.

Dress up!

Halloween. I always kind of hated that holiday. Not that I didn't mind the free candy, but it gets to a point in your life when you want to dress up and look cute, but all the girl costumes start with, "slutty _____." So...options become limited when you don't want to be said slut. This year I had a bit of inspiration and had 2 costumes.

The first night at my parent's ward, where I supervised the niece and nephews, I was Lady Mary Crawley off on a horse ride...minus the horse. If you've ever watched Downton Abbey, you'll know who I am talking about, and she is flawless. However, not many people knew who I was supposed to be. Their loss.
Then, at the YSA dance the next night, I wanted to be another awesome Brit. Ever hear of the Duchess of Cambridge? Apparently not a lot of people had. I had to ask them, "Ever hear of Princess Diana? She just married his son."

I just went as casual Kate. I wore a sweater, jeans and boots and some feather headband. Oh, and a replica of her massive sapphire engagement ring. Another person came up to me and was like, "Who are you?" So I flashed the ring. "Oh," they said, "You are engaged?" Um NO! I am married to the formerly most eligible bachelor, and future King of England in the wedding of the century! Come on people! Work with me!
Ok, moment of truth: I did not nail the costumes. First off, I'd need to lose like, 50 pounds to actually begin to resemble these women. I joked I could be pregnant Kate. And really, I just wanted an excuse to walk around in a top hat and wear that ring.

I also heard that Kate likes watching Downton Abbey. Maybe this next year I can be Kate dressing up as Lady Mary. They might both be pregnant this fall, so it could work.

Bella & Jordan's Day of Fun!

My eldest niece turned 10 this year! Which means, I was only 11 when she was born! (*Wink!) Isn't that crazy? Anyway, since she is getting so big, I decided we should hang out more and do fun girl stuff. So I told her I'd take her somewhere.

Currently, at the Durham Western Heritage Museum there is an exhibit called "Cut!". It has a ton of movie costumes from Britain in it. Did you ever see, "The Duchess," "Finding Neverland," "Pirates of the Caribbean," or "Phantom of the Opera"? Well, some of those costumes are on loan and on display.

Anyway, I took her to see it. The sad part is that they didn't let you take pictures of it. And since I took her on a day off from school, in the middle of the day during the week, hardly anyone was there. And the worker lady kept following us around talking about the costumes because she had nothing else to do--so I couldn't really sneak a photo either.

But, since the museum also houses Omaha history stuff, we wandered and took photos there.

Sitting on an old timey porch! And relaxing her feet, since her heels started hurting!

Big Old wagon!
I have always wanted to be on an "I'm a Mormon" commercial...anybody know anybody who can help a girl out?
Learning about her people!
Buffalo!
Just taking a train ride...
Isn't she stylish?
It was a fun day! Afterwards we went to lunch and then Grandpa had her on his radio show on campus! Her only complaint is that his co-host kept talking. Too much Indian stuff, not enough Bella!

Jordan Goodall

Memorial Stadium. Ever been? I have, why? Because I'm fancy.

...And our family got free tickets to a game. I know people, who know people.
According to Wikipedia, on a game day, the stadium holds enough people to be the 3rd largest city in Nebraska. Which is cool, and also a little pathetic when you realize that there aren't a ton of highly populated cities in Nebraska.

Anyway, we went here for a game because my brother Ben knows people. Here is Momma and Daddy at the game.
And this is the view from our seats. We were 12 rows up! Not bad!
We could see their faces! And we got to sit in the family section. So the guy on the other team that made the first touchdown--we sat behind his family. They were pretty excited! We joined in! My brother and I also made it on TV! Oh, and that is me with my Cougar shirt on. BYU. It was their game day, and I just couldn't handle wearing red on a BYU game day.
I had never been to Memorial Stadium or watched a Husker game in person. It was pretty exciting, and, a bit odd. I felt like Jane Goodall doing an experiment among the apes. What was it like to live amongst the Husker fans and get wrapped up in their lives without actually being a Husker fan? The craziness that surrounded us.

(And not to offend any Husker fan, but I am True Blue BYU, and there is no room in my heart for any other team. See the shirt.)

Also, I thought I'd only have to fear the Husker fans not wearing their red. Little did I know that while in line to get our tickets, an older lady from the other team scared me a little when she made sure we'd be cheering for her team. She had money. She could get things done.

All in all, a very fun game! Good family time.

A little late

I finally downloaded some of my pictures from my camera. And then my nieces came into town, so there are still a ton of pictures not downloaded. But, in order, this is me last fall going to a Storm Chasers baseball game with some friends.

We scored some free tickets because a guy in our ward works for the team.

Also, I got a random call from a guy to go watch the Omaha Beef play indoor Football. Some guy from my ward plays on the team. Cool, right? We got really good seats! It was like, hockey--but with much bigger men! It was a different kind of football, but still pretty awesome! I didn't take a picture there--but if I did bring my camera, I would have recorded the rather large men doing an Irish Jig during half-time, kilts and all! (It was St. Patrick's day)

The only awkward part was that the cheerleaders looked like they did a shift at Hooters, then stripped down a little more, and went to work at the arena. Stay classy Omaha Beef.

I feel like I have some good connections, and am covered for all the professional teams we have here in Omaha.

Now if only I can find a wealthy man to marry. That has nothing to do with sports, but it's still something to wish for, right?
